About the opportunity:

We are seeking a collaborative and skilled Wellbeing Leading Counsellor to deliver a range of services across the Diocese. The successful person will provide high level advice and proactivity in the area of supporting learning and teaching. You will work in collaboration with teachers in learning spaces and partner with the leadership team. 

More specifically you will:

  • Collaborate with schools and other professionals to promote school wide mental health and wellbeing initiatives

  • Demonstrate and facilitate counsellor professional learning

  • Engage with families to support their child and to strengthen home-school partnerships

  • Provide individual and group counselling services to students

  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student support

  • Support leaders and staff to respond effectively to student welfare

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to design personalised plans for students

  • Maintain records in line with CSPD requirements

About you:

To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment to the core purpose and values of CSPD along with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work and/or Psychology

  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker

  • Be a registered psychologist or a social worker eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR general registration as a psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Have the capacity to make a significant contribution within schools to matters related to student welfare and wellbeing

  • Have demonstrated evidence based professionally informed judgment in dealing with sensitive issues

  • Demonstrate the capacity to engage students, parents and teachers in the counselling process

  • The capability to facilitate parent and care-giver education

  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance
